Unique: where others have a problem the Transporter has 4MOTION.

Rain, snow and gravel: every journey and every route makes its own specific demands on a vehicle. This is no problem with the innovative 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. It ensures good traction and stable roadholding in poor road surface conditions such as rain and snow, on gravel and mountain tracks, on bends and when accelerating. The Haldex multi-plate coupling of 4MOTION reacts to even slight wheel slip on greasy, icy, and loose surfaces and distributes drive variably – up to 100% of drive can be directed to the rear axle. All control units are linked to the vehicle dynamics sensors, engine management system and gearbox so that adjustments can be made within milliseconds. If you often have to cope with difficult terrain, a manual differential lock is available for the rear axle as an optional extra. Vehicles with 4MOTION are also equipped as standard with the safety features: ESP (electronic stabilisation programme) including brake assist system, ABS (anti-locking brake system), EDL (electronic differential lock), and TCS (traction control system). The spare wheel available as an option is fitted under the floor so that carrier systems can easily be mounted on the rear of the vehicle. The Transporter with 4MOTION drive also retains other characteristic features, e.g. the low step height of the entrance and loading surface. All you have to think about is suitable clothing when you leave your Transporter.
